CHP Announces DUI Sobriety Checkpoint in San Joaquin County for June 28

The California Highway Patrol’s Stockton Area office has announced they will be conducting a DUI sobriety checkpoint to decisively curb instances of driving under the influence. This checkpoint is scheduled for Saturday, and will be located in the unincorporated area of San Joaquin County. According to the CHP – Stockton social media post, the operation will commence at approximately 9 p.m., after the setup which is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m., and will continue until the early hours of 3 a.m.

The CHP has taken measures to ensure the officers on the ground are well-prepared for this task. The officers at the checkpoint will include CHP Drug Recognition Experts who are certified to accurately identify drug impairment. These experts have been certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and are set to provide on-the-spot assessments for drivers suspected of drug use. Additionally, the enforcement team will be armed with hand-held breath testing devices that are engineered to accurately measure blood alcohol concentrations of suspected drunk drivers.
