Around 10:30 a.m., the Ceres Police Department and Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Rolling Oak Court related to an ongoing investigation of the sale of illegal/dangerous fireworks.

Officers said they found about 500 pounds of illegal/dangerous fireworks at the location. Subsequently, Jaspreet Singh Chohan, 39, of Modesto, was placed under arrest, according to CPD. He faces several charges related to felony possession of illegal/dangerous fireworks. Additionally, CPD said Jasvir Chohan, 66, of Ceres, was cited for possession of illegal/dangerous fireworks under the Ceres Municipal Code.
“The Ceres Police Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July and only use fireworks that are marked Safe and Sane with the State Fire Marshal Seal,” CPD said. “Fireworks that go in the air or that explode are illegal under state law.”
