Guam liberator celebrates 100th birthday, survivor gets 1st dance

It was a grand and heartwarming 100th birthday celebration for Frank S. Wright, a former corporal with the United States Marine Corps who fought in the liberation of Guam and the battle of Iwo Jima.

A party was held at the Stockton Marine Corps Club on July 5 where Wright was presented with thousands of birthday cards, as his birthday wish was to receive 100,000 cards to celebrate his 100 years.

Wright now lives at a retirement home in Lodi, California, about 20 minutes from the city of Stockton, and made his birthday wish known in local media reports…
