After eight years in custody, 20 days of trial testimony and just four hours of deliberation, Daniel Winkler was found guilty of first degree murder in one of the grisliest killings in Stockton history, the jury swiftly rejecting his plea of insanity.
Police arrested Winkler hours after they found Angenai Terlouw’s body folded in half and stuffed in a Stockton trash can on Aug. 13, 2017, her head, neck and torso covered with 21 stab wounds. She had been stabbed in the shower of the home they shared, their 5-year-old son a witness to the killing.
