Republic Services sanitation workers began striking in Stockton on July 8, demanding stronger labor protections and better benefits. Waste collection delays had also taken place in Lathrop at this time due to a work stoppage.
Since then, limited services have been provided by Republic Services and multiple municipalities until the city introduced a self-drop-off plan on Thursday.
