8 arrested following gang kidnapping, torture investigation in San Joaquin County

(FOX40.COM) —  Law enforcement officials in San Joaquin County say they’ve uncovered a violent international crime ring with ties to India following the arrest of 8 suspected gang members accused of kidnapping and torture.

The suspects, ranging from their mid-20s to 40s, were taken into custody during raids across multiple cities, including Stockton’s Brookside area, Manteca, and areas of Stanislaus County. During their investigation, authorities recovered five handguns, an assault rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, multiple high-capacity magazines, and more than $15,000 in cash.

The arrested individuals were identified as:

  • Dilpreet Singh
  • Arshpreet Singh
  • Amritpal Singh
  • Pavittar Singh
  • Gurtaj Singh
  • Manpreet Randhawa
  • Sarabjit Singh
  • Vishal (no last name provided)

The arrests took place on July 11, less than a month after the crime took place. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation was done in collaboration with the Stockton Police, Manteca Police, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s and FBI SWAT teams.

“My office became aware of information indicating that a horrendous crime had occurred,” said San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow.
