When a motorcycle crash sent a rider careening onto a Modesto sidewalk last week, a nearby family managed to pull its children out of the way just in time.
The collision occurred near Fifth and I streets, where a motorcycle and vehicle collided, sending the motorcyclist off course and onto the sidewalk — directly toward a family out for a walk. The motorcycle struck and destroyed a scooter one of the children had been riding — but the adults’ quick action avoided what could have been a devastating impact.
The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital for minor injuries. The family declined medical care at the scene.
