San Joaquin County cities challenge RTD over bus, service expansions

(FOX40.COM) — City managers from all eight cities in San Joaquin County are raising concerns over recent service enhancements and funding requests they say were made by the San Joaquin Regional Transit District, citing a lack of transparency.

In a letter signed by the city managers and sent to RTD, officials challenged RTD for moving forward with route and schedule changes that went into effect on Sunday, without seeking local input.

The adjustments included increased bus frequency, map changes to improve safety, schedule and route modifications to enhance safety and performance, and schedule shifts, which RTD said were based on passenger needs and ridership data…
