Stockton Unified starts new school year with focus on ‘whole child, whole family and whole community’

After nine weeks of summer break, nearly 40,000 students at 55 schools in the Stockton Unified School District returned to class on Thursday.

Though school was scheduled to start at 8 a.m., families began arriving at Spanos Elementary School in south Stockton as early as 7:30.
