Modesto Police Department Receives $58,600 Grant from California ABC to Curb Alcohol-Related Issues

In an effort to keep Modesto streets safer and reduce the prevalence of alcohol-related problems, the Modesto Police Department has received a substantial grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). The grant, amounting to $58,600, is part of a broader initiative by the California ABC to partner with local law enforcement agencies in tackling issues that stem from alcohol misuse. “This is important to Modesto in order to increase protection for youth and to address crime at problem locations,” Lieutenant Moffett explained, as per the Modesto Police Department.

The grant provides resources for operations that prevent the illegal sale of alcohol, particularly to minors and heavily inebriated individuals, and combat other related criminal activities, including illegal drug offenses. According to an announcement by the Modesto Police Department, the funds will also be used to help prevent illegal solicitations of alcohol.
