4 dead after vehicle submerged in San Joaquin County identified

WOODBRIDGE, Calif. — Four people who died after a vehicle submerged last week in San Joaquin County have been identified.

According to the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office, the four who died after a vehicle went underwater early Aug. 4 in the area of Eight Mile Road were:

  • Luz Maria Amado Basilio, 21, from Stockton,
  • Esteban Alcantara Gerardo, 45, from Stockton,
  • Julio Reyes Corraltitlan, 20, from Mexico,
  • Leocadio Reyes Guillermo, 27, from Mexico.

The Woodbridge Fire District said via social media it first responded to the submerged vehicle just below the water’s surface around 4 a.m. along Rindge Road, south of Eight Mile Road.

Two victims were immediately located and taken to the hospital, and two victims were recovered by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office dive team and pronounced at the scene, authorities said…
