Around 5 a.m., the Modesto Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle accident on South 9th Street. When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle that had struck the back of a big rig trailer and a chain-link fence. A fence post had impaled one person, but the person removed the fence post before firefighters arrived, according to MFD.
United flight diverts to Sacramento amid emergency
At the time of the incident, MFD’s Engine 19 was staffed with two paramedic firefighters who could provide advanced life support, according to MFD. The two paramedic firefighters and ambulance crew provided ALS care to the patient being transported to a local hospital.
