Modesto Man Charged with Murder and DUI in Fatal Collision Involving Motorcycle

In a solemn report from the Modesto Police Department, a vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision claimed a life and led to a DUI arrest. The fatal incident occurred at the intersection of Yosemite Blvd. and Phoenix Ave. yesterday morning, August 23. A statement on social media from the Modesto Police Department detailed that officers arrived to find two individuals from the motorcycle on the roadway, both of whom were transported to a local hospital where, despite extensive lifesaving efforts, one did not survive.

The preliminary investigation has indicated that a pickup truck, driving eastbound, made a turn to the north onto Phoenix Ave., cutting directly in front of the motorcycle traveling westbound, resulting in the tragic collision. The driver of the truck, identified as 61-year-old Billy O’Neal of Modesto, remained at the scene. It is reported that O’Neal displayed signs of intoxication and was subsequently arrested for DUI after the investigation.
