MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man killed under “suspicious” circumstances last week was identified by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 55-year-old Gilberto Ramirez of Gustine. Ramirez was shot to death in the 4600 block of Hunt Road, just south of Gustine, on Aug. 20.
At first, the sheriff’s office said Ramirez’s death was being investigated as a “suspicious death,” but it later turned into a homicide investigation. This led to the arrest of 46-year-old Timothy Fontes, who is facing homicide charges…
