STOCKTON, Calif. — A narrow vote by Stockton City Council has cleared the way for an outside investigation into how the city spent $50,000 to save a popular comedy show.
The 4-3 decision came after questions were raised about city emails showing the money went to keep the “Wild ‘N Out” tour stop from being canceled in May.
The debate has centered on Vice Mayor Jason Lee, who both helped bring the show to Stockton and performed in it. Lee did not recuse himself from the council discussion but defended the decision to support the event…
