Structure fire in Stanislaus County spreads to brush, burns nearly 10 acres

A structure fire in Oakdale spread to nearby brush on Friday, burning through more than nine acres of land, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

Firefighters with MFD’s fifth battalion were called at about 1 p.m. to a fire at a detached shop on River Road. The fire spread to two additional structures and ignited brush fires across the road — prompting MFD to call in backup, according to an incident summary.

Crews from Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District’s second battalion, Escalon Fire Department, Ripon Fire Department and Farmington Fire Department responded.
