Sacramento, CA Weather: Triple-Digit Heat Bakes Valley Through Saturday Evening

Sacramento, Calif. – Dangerous heat is gripping Northern California today, with highs topping 100 degrees in Sacramento, Redding, Marysville and Merced. The National Weather Service warns of a Moderate HeatRisk for the Valley and nearby foothills, urging residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and limit outdoor activity during the afternoon.

According to the NWS Sacramento office, peak heat will impact cities along the I-5 and Highway 99 corridors, including Stockton, Modesto, and Chico, where readings are expected in the upper 90s. Even foothill communities like Placerville and Sonora will reach the mid-90s, making outdoor work and travel hazardous during peak sun hours.

Officials recommend staying indoors during the hottest part of the day, drinking plenty of water, and never leaving children or pets in vehicles. Cooling centers are open in several counties, and PG&E has reminded customers of possible higher energy demand straining the grid…
