California lawmakers’ ‘Golden State Commitment’ aims to bolster wildfire readiness

SACRAMENTO, Calif — The TCU September Lightning Complex Fire continues to blaze through Calaveras, Stanislaus, San Joaquin and Tuolumne counties, reminding Californians once again of the devastation wildfires can cause.

With recovery efforts already underway for the fires, help could soon be on the way for future fires as California lawmakers are hoping to help enhance wildfire-fighting efforts with a bill package that addresses everything from firefighter staffing to speeding up rebuilding efforts for fire-burned areas.
