Makeshift houseboat removed from Merced River, owner arrested

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was evicted from his makeshift houseboat after being arrested for a probation violation on Thursday.

According to deputies, 36-year-old Cesar Moran from Newman was staying in a makeshift “illegal vessel” floating on the Merced River near Hagaman Park in Stevinson.

Aboard the floating home, deputies say they found a .357 Magnum revolver. Per the sheriff’s office, Moran was on probation for gun-related charges and was prohibited from owning a firearm.

Moran was arrested and booked into the Merced County Sheriff’s Office Jail on gun-related charges, and the vessel was removed from the river…
