NEWMAN — The Newman Police Department has welcomed a new officer and promoted one of its own to sergeant, marking key milestones in its ongoing effort to bolster staffing.
Peter Kennedy, a graduate of San Joaquin Delta College Police Academy Class 49-21, joined the department this month. Kennedy holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, Stanislaus, and previously served as a deputy with both the San Joaquin County and Stanislaus County sheriff’s offices.
Also advancing within the department is William “Will” Parrott, who was promoted to sergeant. Parrott began his law enforcement career in Newman in August 2017 and was promoted to corporal in January 2021. He is a graduate of San Joaquin Delta Police Academy Class 36-15 and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University, Sacramento, where he was a member of the university’s rowing team…
