In response to a climate where places of worship have found themselves facing a range of threats, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office has announced a Faith-Based Security Workshop aimed at empowering religious leaders and volunteers with the necessary skills to better protect their congregations. Scheduled for November 18, the half-day workshop will be held at 720 12th Street Modesto, offering participants a chance to learn about active threat response, handling medical emergencies, navigating social situations, and preparing for natural disasters.
According to a recent social media post by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the workshop is designed “to equip faith leaders and volunteers with the tools and knowledge needed to develop comprehensive safety plans for their congregations.” Sign-ups for the event are currently open, with links provided online to facilitate the process. The session will specifically feature active threat response training, advice on medical certifications and tools, and strategies to properly engage in a myriad of social situations that may arise in a faith-based setting.
