(KRON) — A 66-year-old man was killed early Sunday on Interstate 580 at the Altamont Pass after his Tesla was rear-ended by a driver who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities responded to the two-vehicle crash around 4:45 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-580, west of Grant Line Road. Arriving CHP officers found a black Tesla Model Y down an embankment and a white Honda Accord blocking the right lanes.
According to crash investigators, a 21-year-old Stockton man driving the Honda collided with the rear of the Tesla, being driven by a 66-year-old Tracy man. The Tracy man was pronounced deceased at the scene…
