Manteca Police Department targets illegal alcohol sales to minors

(FOX40.COM) — The Manteca Police Department conducted a Minor Decoy Operation throughout the city on Sept. 17, reminding off-sale licensees not to furnish alcohol to underage people.

After being awarded an Alcohol Police Partnership grant of $75,000, MPD has committed to five operations to raise community awareness and reduce access to alcoholic beverages by underage individuals.

The five approved operations for this grant are:

  • Minor Decoy Operations: person under 21 years old entering a licensed premise and attempting to purchase alcohol.
  • Shoulder Tap Operation: a person under 21 years old standing outside a licensed premises and asking customers to purchase alcohol for them
  • IMPACT Operations: inspections of licensed premises
  • General Enforcement Operations: looking for underage parties, looking for underage drinking or purchasing of alcoholand taking enforcement action
  • Task Force Operations: DUI and ABC Violation warrants
