Modesto Centre Plaza is not taking any bookings for events past December and it appears the venue’s future is uncertain.
City officials have not said why the event and conference center has no plans beyond the end of the year. But Sonya Severo, spokesperson for the city, stated, “The future use of the Modesto Centre Plaza is currently being considered” and there are “active conversations” about what will happen to it.
On Aug. 5, the City Council decided on a downtown location as the site for a professional soccer stadium, which would be built at, and near Centre Plaza. This would require the demolition of Centre Plaza, The Bee previously reported…
