Moratorium On Insurance Cancelations Following TCU September Complex Fire

Sonora, CA — A majority of people who live in a six-county region surrounding the TCU September Lightning Complex Fire will not have to worry about having their home insurance coverage dropped over the next year.

Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara issued a one-year moratorium for about 124,000 homes in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Mariposa, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced counties.

He says, “I am acting to protect the Sierra foothill residents who have already been through a lot. Nobody should worry about losing their insurance coverage after going through a wildfire emergency.”…
