Stockton Food Bank “frustrated” as government shutdown adds to supply worries

(FOX40.COM) — With the ongoing government shutdown, many are questioning how food assistance programs like SNAP and WIC could be affected. Leaders at the Emergency Food Bank in Stockton said that they’re frustrated and uncertain about how to prepare for the possibility of more people turning to them for help.

The food bank already serves thousands of families each year, but CEO Leonard Hansen said they’re worried about what could happen if the shutdown drags on.

“In the past, government shutdown usually leads to increased people in the line and increased demand at the food pantries,” Hansen said. “It doesn’t come right away, but it does come.”…
