Stockton council eyes state grant to re-purpose Teen Impact Center

STOCKTON, Calif. — In downtown Stockton, dominated by brick and cement, the Gary and Janice Podesto Teen Impact Center has long stood out with a splash of yellow, Art Deco details, and its iconic neon flying sphere sculpture.

For nearly two decades, it served as a hub for youth, but for the past four years, the building has remained empty.

“It’s been sitting empty for a very long time and has certainly attracted some vagrancy, blight, and so forth, but it’s just a gorgeous building,” said Tony Yadon, CEO of Main Street Youth & Family Services. “I would love to see it activated somehow.”…
