Stockton protests stretch into second day after surprise ICE weekend check-ins

STOCKTON, Calif. — Demonstrators gathered Sunday outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Stockton for a second straight day after advocates said dozens of immigrants from across the Central Valley were told to report for surprise check-ins over the weekend.

Advocates said the abruptly scheduled and abnormal Sunday appointments were effectively canceled after protesters arrived early in the morning, blocking the facility’s front entrance with picketing and makeshift barriers of rocks and debris.
