At Chavez High School, students have been discussing a recent issue involving spicy chips. Many students have been selling snacks like Takis and other hot chips around campus, but now some students are starting to get sick after eating them.
Several students said they felt stomach pain, nausea, and heartburn after eating the spicy chips bought from other students during lunch or passing periods. One student said, “I love Takis, but I ate too many and felt sick for the rest of the day.”
Teachers and the school nurse say the problem might be that the chips are being sold from open bags or left in backpacks all day, which can make them stale or unsafe. The school also reminded students that selling food on campus without permission is not allowed…
