Felon Arrested Across from Middle School After Search Yields Automatic Weapon and Explosive Devices

MODESTO, CA – The Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team (MNET), supported by the Stanislaus County Probation Department, executed a search warrant on Monday, October 20, 2025, at a residence in the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue. The location of the residence is situated across the street from Somerset Middle School. During the operation, investigators located and seized a variety of illegal items. The evidence collected included multiple loaded firearms and a quantity of ammunition.

Among the recovered weapons was a fully automatic Uzi-style machine gun that was equipped with a silencer. In addition to the firearms, authorities also recovered two explosive devices from the residence. Following the search, 49-year-old Joshua Reyes was taken into custody.

Reyes was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail, with bail set at $1,000,000. The charges filed against him include three counts of Felon in possession of a firearm (29800(a)(1) PC), Felon in possession of ammunition (30305(a)(1) PC), Possession of an assault weapon (30605(a) PC), and Possession of a silencer (33410 PC).
