Modesto Man Convicted of Felony Domestic Violence and Arson, Faces Sentencing in Stanislaus County

In a significant case for Stanislaus County, the District Attorney’s Office announced the conviction of 48-year-old Richard Garcia of Modesto by a jury on charges including felony domestic violence, terrorist threats, false imprisonment, and arson. Detailing the events leading to Garcia’s conviction, DA Jeff Laugero remarked on the severity of the abuse, which began on February 7. Garcia, already with a history of domestic violence, brutally attacked the victim over several hours.
