November Athletes of the Month!

Every month Ripon High School’s leadership program selects two students that show great athletic ability and hardworking qualities and for the month of November these students are freshman Kendall Alexander and sophomore Gage Saavedra.

Both of these students participate in the schools water polo program and for both it created new beginnings and new experiences. For Alexander, this was her first year playing competitive water polo and she enjoyed her experience. “ It was definitely a learning experience and for us being an all-freshman team we did well especially since we were playing juniors and seniors”. One of her favorite memories of this season was when she scored her first ever goal. And for being a freshman, Alexander has worked hard and proved herself to be worthy of a spotlight on the Ripon High campus.

For the second athlete of the month Saavedra, a sophomore on campus, began his water polo journey his freshman year. Currently he is the goalie for the varsity team and he is enjoying every moment on the court. One of Saavedra’s favorite moments in the water was during the VOL championship where he made the perfect pass to one of his teammates which resulted in a point scored. He quotes, “ When I completed that pass I was so thrilled and it made me so excited.” In the off-season, Saavedra will continue into his sixth year of track and weight train as well…
