Documentary on homelessness in Modesto sparks community dialogue on solutions

A rainy Thursday night screening of “Homeless in Modesto II” at the State Theatre spurred community discussion on both challenges and solutions for addressing homelessness.

The Fog Light Media documentary is a sequel to retired Modesto Junior College professor Richard Anderson’s 2018 film. It can now be viewed at: www.foglightmediaca.com/homeless-in-modesto.

The documentary features interviews with unhoused residents, community leaders and elected officials, alongside scenes of camp clearings and relocations. It also highlights housing initiatives the city has approved, including the Downtown Streets Team and Dignity Village.
