(FOX40.COM) — The San Joaquin Regional Transit District’s annual Stuff the Bus has kicked off for its 27th year, and the race is on to collect thousands of pounds of food ahead of Thanksgiving.
The event is being held outside the Food for Less at 789 W. Hammer Lane. On Friday, dozens of people came by to drop off donations, mostly people who were doing their regular grocery shopping, and volunteers say the amount of generosity exceeded their expectations.
“I was not expecting, the amount of generosity that we were getting from our community,” said Maximilian Cao, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin RTD. “You know, after you hear about what’s going on with the snap benefits, there’s a lot of folks that are just experiencing, just not a lot of money coming in.”…
