Stockton Serial Killing Suspect Wesley Brownlee Indicted on Six Murder Counts by San Joaquin County DA

The saga of Wesley Brownlee, the suspect in a series of Stockton-area murders, took a significant turn as the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office secured an indictment on six counts of murder. According to a CBS News Sacramento report, District Attorney Ron Freitas announced the grand jury’s decision on Thursday, following six weeks of evidence presentation. Brownlee was arrested back in 2022, and at the time, police suggested they had intercepted him while he was “out hunting.”

Despite the original allegations involving seven murders, the grand jury indicted Brownlee on six counts of first-degree murder, with one attempted murder count. While prosecutors believe Brownlee is connected to a seventh homicide, details are still under investigation, which has led to its exclusion from the indictment. “My office’s mission has always been clear: to protect this community and deliver justice for victims and their loved ones,” Freitas remarked in a statement obtained by FOX40.

While California maintains a moratorium on the death penalty, the charges leveled against Brownlee maintain his eligibility for such a sentence.
