Manteca police use minor decoy to detect illegal alcohol sales to minors

(FOX40.COM) — Multiple members from the Manteca Police Department conducted a “shoulder tap operation” outside of five randomly licensed businesses within the city. • Video above: States with the most strict DUI laws

The police shared a press release stating that off-sale licensed establishments, which sell alcohol that cannot be consumed on-site, such as stores and liquor stores, are only permitted to do so. The operation is conducted by having a minor decoy stand outside a licensed business and ask people to purchase alcohol for them.

Manteca police said the crime is committed when the person furnishes alcohol to the minor by any means, taking money from the decoy and purchasing the alcohol, or just giving the decoy alcohol that the customer purchased with their own money…
