‘We are here for you.’ Vigil set for Dec. 3 at Stockton’s Weber Point

Victims of violent crime will be remembered on Wednesday night during the annual Candlelight Vigil in downtown Stockton.

This year, the event will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Weber Point Events Center, 221 N. Center St. The annual event is hosted by Victims of Violent Crimes of San Joaquin, Inc. Support Group, along with the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Victim Witness Program and the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office.

“To those in the community who lost loved ones from this past Saturday’s tragedy and those who have lost loved ones throughout the year to senseless violence, I would say: we are here for you,” San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas, told The Record Tuesday. “From our victim-witness advocates assisting survivors in the immediate aftermath to the prosecution of those who commit crimes against our community, our mission, 24/7 is to assist victims in recovering from loss, and ensuring they get the justice (they) deserve, against those that would do them and their loved ones harm.”…
