Modesto Man Convicted of First-Degree Murder for Jealous Rage Killing, Faces Life Sentence

The Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office has secured a conviction in a chilling case of passion turned lethal. According to a social media post from the District Attorney, Matthew Douglas Cook, a 42-year-old Modesto resident, was found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder in the death of Matthew Mcdonough, along with related charges. District Attorney Jeff Laugero conveyed that the conviction could land Cook a life sentence.
