STOCKTON, Calif — An emotional prayer vigil formed outside a Stockton banquet hall Thursday night, five days after a toddler’s birthday party turned into a mass shooting that killed three children and a young man and injured 13 others. Some people prayed on their knees and sobbed as neighbors pleaded for answers.
Authorities have not publicly identified suspects or a motive. Detectives said there may have been multiple shooters, but no arrests have been made, and the sheriff has not said what investigators believe may have led to the attack. The FBI and ATF are assisting local detectives.
