Obdulia Sanchez, who hit the true crime headlines in 2017, was shot and killed in Stockton, California this week. Notably, it is unclear if her death has any involvement with the Stockton mass shooting at a birthday party in the same city. Read on for more details.
Sanchez Dies In Drive-by Shooting
The identities of the latest Stockton shooting are all known, and it seems that for now, Sanchez wasn’t part of that incident. However, back in 2017, she was in the news because she filmed live for social media, and ended up in a DUI crash that killed her 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline. Per the San Francisco Chronicle, it also injured a friend in the car. At the time, the 18-year-old, who was recently shot and killed by a drive-by shooter, was over the legal limit.
As those who heard the news about the death of Obdulia Sanchez noted, if she’d done more time behind bars then she might actually still be alive. But, such is life. At the time of filming, her actions were described as being depraved and really stupid. Convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter, she also faced DUI and child endangerment charges.
Freed From Prison
Despite getting a six year sentence in prison, she served only 26 months before parole. Thereafter, it seemed that she didn’t learn her lesson because later, reports arrived that Sanchez was again arrested after a high speed car chase involving a gun in her car. Obviously, she violated her parole.
Well, true crime followers believe in karma as the news about her death arrived on Wednesday this week. But still, it must be terribly hard on her family who have now lost two children. The shooting that took place in Stockton reportedly happened near Gertrude Avenue and Fremont Street. At the time of her death, the former DUI convicted inmate was 29 years old.
Apparently, there was another person involved and both people were admitted to a hospital. However, medical professionals couldn’t save Obdulia Sanchez. So far, there seem to be no suspects, and no known motive for the shooting…
