Man convicted of second-degree murder in shooting of Modesto DoorDash driver

MODESTO, Calif. — A man was convicted in the shooting death of a Modesto DoorDash driver.

According to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office, Mario Esparza, 50 of Modesto, was convicted of second-degree murder. He’s facing life in prison for the shooting death of Andrew Satavu, who was finishing an order in the area of Modesto’s Gardenia Road in April 2022.

Prosecutors said police responded to reports of shots fired and found Satavu in his car with nine gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he ultimately died…
