Stockton’s vice mayor announced that California’s fiscal office has agreed to audit multiple areas of alleged financial wrongdoing within city government.
In a Monday morning statement, Vice Mayor Jason Lee said the planned audit by the State Controller’s Office, whose responsibilities include supervising local governments’ finances, would cover allegedly improper commitments of city money, unauthorized budget changes and unethical hiring practices, among other issues.
