A Patterson man convicted earlier this year of killing his roommate has been sentenced to 55 years to life in state prison, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.
Juan Ramon Haro Ortega, 37, received the sentence after a jury found him guilty of murdering 62-year-old Anthony “Tony” Pistoia in May 2021. Jurors also found true allegations that Ortega previously was convicted of at least three serious or violent felonies, triggering California’s Three Strikes law and significantly increasing the sentence.
