Street gangs across Stockton are scheduled to take part in truce talks Friday, Dec. 12, in response to the Nov. 29 mass shooting at a child’s birthday party.
The meeting is being organized by the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, a Texas-based group formed after the 2022 Uvalde school shooting. The foundation said the confidential meeting, set for 9 p.m. at an undisclosed location, is intended to “end the cycle of retaliation” following the attack.
“We know who is carrying the guns,” founder Daniel Chapin said. “We know the history is long, the beef is deep, and the fear is real. But the children caught in your crossfire are owed a greater respect than any rivalry.”…
