A passenger suffered major injuries early Saturday morning after jumping from a moving vehicle during a law enforcement pursuit in Modesto, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident began at about 1:37 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Empire Avenue and Monterey Avenue, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver failed to yield and fled, prompting deputies to initiate a vehicle pursuit. While the pursuit was underway near the intersection of Needham Street and Olive Avenue in downtown Modesto, a passenger exited the vehicle for reasons that remain under investigation while the car was traveling at a high rate of speed, authorities said…
