Stockton officials say nonprofit’s gang ceasefire claim cannot be verified, report no contact with foundation

STOCKTON, Calif — City of Stockton and San Joaquin County officials say they were not contacted by a Texas-based nonprofit that claims it helped broker a temporary gang ceasefire in Stockton following the city’s deadly November mass shooting, and law enforcement says no agreement has been verified.

The Youth Peace and Justice Foundation (YPJF), also known as the Uvalde Foundation for Kids, said it helped negotiate a short-term truce among groups involved in gang violence after a shooting at a birthday party that killed four people, including children, on Nov 29.

ABC10 contacted city leaders, county officials, and law enforcement agencies to determine whether any authority had contact with the nonprofit to verify its alleged ceasefire talks…
