STOCKTON, Calif — After ABC10 aired a report examining claims of a gang ceasefire in Stockton, the founder of the Texas-based nonprofit agreed to speak exclusively.
Daniel Chapin, founder of the Youth Peace and Justice Foundation, said he decided to respond after repeated outreach and because he wanted to address the questions publicly.
“You’ve got to be one of the most persistent,” Chapin said. “And in fact, that’s why I made the decision to get on the phone with you. You’re the only one I’m going to talk to,” he said. “And it’s against some of our better judgment. But I said, you know what, there was something. It was time for me to step up and have this conversation, address some of these questions, and put a face and a voice to it.”
