The Stockton City Council approved new regulations for street and sidewalk vendors to align with California state law and ensure public safety.
The ordinance, which was approved by the council at its Tuesday, Dec. 16, meeting, takes effect on Jan. 16, 2026. It establishes licensing requirements, operational rules and penalties for violations.
The regulations implement provisions from Senate Bill 946, signed into law on Sept. 17, 2018, and Senate Bill 972, signed into law on Sept. 23, 2022.
