Rare Navy ship in Stockton set for major restoration, public attraction

(FOX40.COM) — A hidden piece of Stockton history is preparing for a major transformation.

The USS Lucid, a rare Navy minesweeper docked near the port of Stockton, is set to undergo a large-scale restoration as leaders with the Stockton Maritime Museum work to turn the ship into a public waterfront attraction.

Built in Stockton in the 1950s, the ship served several tours off the coast of Vietnam, where it was used not only as a minesweeper, but also to intercept vessels suspected of smuggling weapons…
