Northern California city sees zero homicides in 2025, first time in nearly 40 years

On Friday, the Modesto Police Department announced that Modesto did not have a single homicide in 2025.

“That doesn’t happen by accident,” said MPD Chief Brandon Gillespie. “It happens because of the clear message that we have sent together. Violent crime is not welcome here.”
